  OVERSIZE AND OVERWEIGHT PERMIT LAWS AND REGULATIONS

Types of Permits
Refuse
REFUSE PERMITS: ($1,000.00 per year)

These permits are for vehicles or combinations of vehicles which are legal in size, have a minimum of eighteen wheels and are used to transfer commercial and household trash, garbage, refuse waste or recyclable waste material loaded exclusively from Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) authorized pickup stations, transfer stations or both. These permits are also used for the transfer of bundled or bailed recyclable waste paper products and are not required to pick up this commodity at a DEQ site. They are valid for one (1) year and may travel only on non-Interstate highways. All vehicles must be legal in size, except those used to transfer bundled or bailed recyclable waste paper products not more than ten (10 ) feet wide.

+ Note: This permit shall not supersede any lesser weight limit POSTED on a bridge or
highway.

Vehicles with a valid Refuse Permit are not prohibited from traveling at night, during moderate rain, or on holidays. These permits are issued on computer generated permit forms from the Truck Permit Office or the Louisiana Truck Center.
