History Back     ENFORCEMENT PROCEDURES AND PENALTIES General Procedures Posted Bridges POSTED BRIDGES Should a vehicle or combination of vehicles be issued a ticket based upon the violation of Louisiana statutes concerning the posting of bridges, that ticket shall be issued based upon the difference between the actual gross weight of the vehicle and load at the time of the stop and the amount of weight for which the particular bridge is posted at the time of the stop. The fine amount is calculated using the fee chart on page 50. ESCORT VEHICLES Operating as an escort vehicle when required by OVERSIZE/OVERWEIGHT PERMIT and unable to pass required inspection, the penalty will be: $100.00 assessed against the escort vehicle and the load may be impounded until proper escort is obtained Transporting load without an escort when one is required, the penalty will be: $100.00 assessed against the hauling vehicle and the load may be impounded until proper escort is obtained BRIDGE FORMULA If the owner or driver of a vehicle or combination of vehicles is in violation of the bridge formula axle spacing requirements, the penalty will be: $50.00 STATIONARY POLES If a combination of vehicles transporting forest products in their natural state is not equipped with stationary vertical retaining poles on the driver’s side of the trailer portion, the penalty will be: $100.00 VARIABLE LOAD SUSPENSION AXLES If vehicles equipped with VLS axles are observed to have the regulator for these axles installed in the cab, the penalty will be: $100.00 If vehicles equipped with VLS axles are observed operating with the axle in the up position when not entering or leaving a turn, the vehicles will be cited as the type represented by the number of axles on the ground. The penalty will be determined using the overaxle/overgross chart.
