  OVERSIZE AND OVERWEIGHT PERMIT LAWS AND REGULATIONS

Types of Permits
Harvest Season or Natural Forest Product
HARVEST SEASON OR NATURAL FOREST PRODUCTS: ($10.00 per year)

These permits are for vehicles which haul farm or forest products in their natural state, grass sod, seed cotton modules or cotton from the field to the gin or from the gin to the mill, and exceed the legal limitations on weight. Limitations on size shall not apply to trucks which transport cotton modules or cotton from the field to the gin, or cotton seed from the gin to the mill and possess this permit.
On non-Interstate highways the maximum weights are:
Gross Vehicle Weight……………………………………………………………………86,600 Pounds
Single Axle…………………………………………………………….……….…………22,000 Pounds
Tandem Axles………………………………………………………………….…………37,000 Pounds
Exception: Weight limits for a vehicle with tandem axles carrying forest products in their
natural state shall be 40,000 pounds.
+ Note: This permit shall not supersede any lesser weight limit POSTED on a bridge or
highway.
On Interstate highways the maximum weights are:
Gross Vehicle Weight……………………………………………………………………83,400 Pounds
Single Axle…………………………………………………………….……….…………20,000 Pounds
Tandem Axles………………………………………………………………….…………35,200 Pounds
Note: This permit shall not supersede any lesser weight limit POSTED on a bridge or
highway.
These permits are valid for one (1) year and expire each year on December 31. Vehicles with valid permits are not prohibited from traveling at night, during moderate rain, or on holidays. Harvest Season or Natural Forest Product Permits are issued on computer generated forms from the Truck Permit Office or the Louisiana Truck Center.
